Series: "We, the People — American Portraits"
A series of paintings, started in 2010.

These "portraits" are part of a project that will
comprise of 1000 works. It is a commentary on
the nature of American Identity.

I have been inspired by various sources. The works refer to fashion ads,
mug shots, identity cards, employee of the month head shots etc.
The works have a special resonance because of the recent discussions
about identifying illegal immigrants, creating racial profiles, appre-
hending terrorists etc.

I am also fascinated by the popularity of social networking sites such as
Facebook, and dating sites like Match.com and eHarmony. Each person
is an individual and a star in their own mind.

Is this what it means to be American?
