This is a series of identically-sized images.
Each
painting starts with a rough human outline
repre-
senting the "Purusha", or "man as the
representation
of mankind." Then each is worked differently to
express the transformation of the elemental man
by the dynamic of trans-national global society into a
multiplicity of avatars.
The manner in which the paintings are made expresses the fluidity
of identity. Each work uses a different combination of materials and
painterly process. The layering and superimposition of elements are
intended to create a distinctive open pictorial space.
The
sequence of
the images is presented more or less in the order they were made.
It is intended to create a narrative of self-containment, implosion,
fragmentation, and reconstitution.
